Our new sewer connection team were connected by the customer. We had previously carried out drainage work for the same customer at another property. The customer was happy with the drain lining and re-rounding we had carried out, and therefore wanted our drainage team to carry out the new sewer connection.
The customer had already been in in contact with both the local council and the local water board to start the application process. The local water board authority had already accepted our customers section 106 application so he had consent to discharge into the public sewer. We then took over the application with the local council, the section 50 application had been filed but the local council was looking for more information to proceed with the works. We provided utility mapping to the highways department along with the drainage plans for the new build.
The section 105 application was then quickly accepted so we could push ahead with the new sewer connection. We arranged with the client and booked for the plant to meet us on site, we needed an excavator and a dumper to enable us to install the new connection. With the plan in place we could pick up the drainage pipework at the boundary for the new block of flats. We excavated into the footpath and highway before connecting to the public sewer. The local water authority inspector passed our new connection and issued the certificate to authenticate our works. We then back filled and reinstated the highway and footpath to standard. We provided the customer with a guarantee of our works before leaving site.
